Mr John Kelly

The Managing Director, John Kelly, has over seventeen years experience in the insurance industry. Ten of those seventeen years was as an Insurance Broker at two of the world's largest General Insurance Brokers. The last five years, prior to founding Consult Insurance Solutions in 2009, were at AIG Australia (now known as Chartis), firstly as the Victorian Financial Lines Manager and the last two years as an Australian Financial Lines Manager.

John has built his reputation on the quality of his work and is a recognised leader in the field.  He is a technical expert in Professional Indemnity Insurance, Directors' & Officers' Insurance, Crime insurance, Merger & Acquisition Insurance (and all variations of the aforementioned classes), with experience in managing projects from conception to completion.

John has handled every type of client, ranging from Australia's largest ASX listed companies, including three of the top ten companies in Australia, to small unlisted and start up entities. This range spans financial organisations such as Banks, Fund/Asset Managers, financial planners etc to diverse commercial operations such BioTech & Innovation companies.

John is a Fellow of the Australian & New Zealand Institute of Insurance and Finance (ANZIIF Fellow), Committee Member of the General Insurance Advisory Committee for ANZIIF and a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (MAICD).  He holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours in Economics), Graduate Diploma of Insurance and a Master of Business Administration, Melbourne Business School.

Dr Sharon Joseph - consultant

Dr Sharon Joseph has a PhD in medical research and is also a registered senior Patent Attorney, with over eleven years experience in prosecuting and drafting patent applications primarily in the biotechnology and chemical field. 

Dr Joseph also has been involved in several opposition cases for major Australian and International clients.  In particular, she has considerable patent experience in the field of cellular and gene technology and also providing patent validity and infringement advice including Freedom to Operate advice, particularly in the pharmaceutical field. Dr Joseph provides specialist assessment of Bioindustry, Pharmaceutical, Innovation and Intellectual Property Risk, for placement of optimum insurance for companies in this sector.

Dr Joseph is a registered Patent and Trade Mark Attorney, Patent Law from the Institute of Patent and Trademark Attorneys Australia and New Zealand, and has a Bachelor of Science, Honours and PhD in Biological and Medical Sciences from University of Melbourne.
